Getting Started with BeadMod
Welcome to BeadMod! This guide will help you create your first beautiful bracelet design in just a few minutes.
What is BeadMod?
BeadMod is a comprehensive 3D jewelry design platform that lets you create stunning bracelets, necklaces, rings, earrings, and anklets with real-time 3D visualization. Whether you're a jewelry designer, crafter, or just love creating beautiful things, BeadMod makes it easy to design and share your creations.
Your First Visit: Onboarding Tour
When you first access the design editor, you'll be greeted with an interactive onboarding tour that walks you through:
- Product Types: Choose from 5 jewelry types
- Bead Library: Browse 42+ unique beads
- Global Defaults: Set your preferred sizes and materials
- Material Effects: Learn about the 7 visual effects
- Canvas Controls: Master the 3D viewport
- Getting Started: Tips for your first design
You can skip the tour and access it later by clicking the ? (Help) button in the top-right corner.
Creating Your First Design
Step 1: Access the Dashboard
After logging in, you'll see your dashboard where all your saved designs are displayed. Click the "New Design" button to start creating.
Step 2: Choose Your Product Type
Select the type of jewelry you want to create:
- Bracelet: Classic circular wrist jewelry (5cm radius)
- Necklace: Larger neck jewelry with 180° arc (8cm radius)
- Ring: Small finger jewelry (2cm radius)
- Earrings: Delicate ear jewelry (1.5cm radius)
- Anklet: Ankle jewelry similar to bracelets (6cm radius)
Each product type has optimized camera angles, spacing, and layout settings.
Step 3: Choose Your Beads
On the left side, you'll find the Bead Library - a collection of 42+ unique beads:
By Material Category:
- Natural: Amethyst, Turquoise, Jade, Lapis Lazuli, Rose Quartz, Tiger's Eye, Onyx
- Wood: Oak, Bamboo, Sandalwood, Ebony
- Ceramic: White, Blue, Terracotta
- Pearl: White, Black, Golden
- Glass: Clear, Colored, Murano
- Resin: Custom colors and patterns
- Metal: Silver, Gold, Bronze, Copper
By Finish Type:
- Polished, Matte, Frosted, Faceted, Brushed, Hammered, Glossy
Special Features:
- Filter by product type compatibility
- Search by name or category
- Preview bead in 3D before adding
Simply click on any bead to add it to your design!
Step 4: Set Global Defaults (Optional)
Before adding beads, you can set global defaults that apply to all new beads:
In the Properties panel, find Global Defaults:
- Default Material: Choose natural, wood, ceramic, pearl, glass, resin, or metal
- Default Finish: Set polished, matte, frosted, etc.
- Default Size: Select from XS (4mm), S (6mm), M (8mm), L (10mm), or XL (12mm)
These defaults make it faster to build designs, but you can still customize individual beads later!
Step 5: Customize Individual Beads
Select any bead in your design to customize it. You can adjust:
- Size: XS to XL (4mm to 12mm)
- Material: Choose from 7 material categories
- Color: Pick any color you like
- Finish: Adjust surface appearance
- Material Effects: Apply stunning visual effects (see below!)
- Rotation: Adjust 3D rotation on all axes
All changes appear in real-time in the 3D viewport!
Step 6: Apply Material Effects
BeadMod includes 7 stunning visual effects you can apply to any bead:
- Glow 🌟 - Soft emissive light from within
- Iridescent 🌈 - Rainbow shimmer that changes with angle
- Metallic Shimmer ✨ - Reflective sparkle
- Frosted Glass ❄️ - Translucent, frosted appearance
- Holographic 💎 - Prismatic cyan shine
- Pearl Luster 🦪 - Soft pearlescent sheen
- None - No effect (default)
To Apply an Effect:
- Select a bead
- Scroll to "Material Effects" in Properties
- Choose effect type
- Adjust intensity (0-100%)
- Add custom color (optional)
Save Custom Presets:
- Click "Save Current" to save your effect configuration
- Access saved presets in the Quick Presets section
- Reuse favorite effects across designs
Step 7: Arrange Your Design
- Add Beads: Click beads from the library to add them
- Remove Beads: Select a bead and click the delete button
- Reorder: Drag and drop beads to change their position
- Layout: Adjust radius, spacing, arc angle
- String/Cord: Customize string material, color, and thickness
- Rotate View: Click and drag in the viewport to see all angles
Step 8: Save Your Design
When you're happy with your bracelet:
- Click the "Save" button
- Give your design a name
- Your design is automatically saved to your dashboard
Taking Screenshots
Want to share your design? Click the camera icon to capture a high-quality screenshot of your bracelet. You can download it directly or save it to your gallery.

- Start with Product Type: Choose the right jewelry type for your design

- Size Variation: Mix XS, S, M, L, XL for dynamic designs

- Save Custom Presets: Create your signature effect combinations
- Symmetry: Try creating symmetrical patterns from the center out
- Test Angles: Rotate the view to see your design from all sides
- Performance: Watch the FPS counter if you use many effects
- Experiment: There's no wrong way to create - have fun!
